Our Greatest Achievement!

It has to be said that by far, our greatest achievement is surely the building of our exceptional showroom with fully operational Demo Suite. 5 years in the making with improvements made constantly it was one of the first operational link up systems in the country. It has set the standard for others nationwide. Click on each image to see more.

The Finished Project

The Finished Project

After years of ongoing work the showroom is finally open for business.

1st Fix Completed

1st Fix Completed

Once the new cabling infrastructure was installed the walls were re-plastered.

Looking from the rear of the showroom front to the new glazed facade. The different lighting scheme cables that we have installed can be seen hanging down ready for 2nd fixing.

Plastering Completed

Plastering Completed

All plastering now completed. The underfloor heating can soon be installed.

Alternative View

The stairs leading to the upstairs office can be seen. The iron column that supports the main beam holding the first floor up can be seen in the middle. See later images for how we disguised this.

Painting

Painting

The plaster once dry was given a first coat of paint. This was to be a base for the various green colours used throughout

Engineer Area

Looking from the demo suite in the rear through to the front. All engineers will have there own area for time sheets and paperwork

Engineer Area

Engineer Area

All units now fitted. The plan next is to install a wedi board top finished with natural stone tiles.

Uponor Multifoil

Uponor Multifoil

The front of the showroom floor is to be under floor heated using the Uponor MLCP system. The first step was to lay the multi-foil. Essentially a high grade bubble wrap this will prevent unwanted heat loss into the cellar below

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

The multi-foil is continued all the way into the front of the showroom. The Wedi board panels leaning up the walls will be used to make the bespoke desks shown in later images.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

The floor is thoroughly cleaned prior to the multi-foil being laid. This ensures a clean installation.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

The meeting room which will enable clients to come in and discuss their projects will be under floor heated also.

Insulation Blocks

Insulation Blocks

Once the multi-foil was laid the floor was then fitted with the insulating blocks shown. These act like a large storage heater. The pipe work will run in the grooves and heat up the blocks. The blocks are similar in design to those found in electric storage heaters.

Underfloor Heating

Underfloor Heating

We started off fitting the full blocks that would not require cutting. As the room was very square this made life easy.

Underfloor Heating

Underfloor Heating

The front right corner of the showroom. One of the bespoke hand made desks will be going here. We installed electrical floor boxes to keep untidy cabling at bay.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

The blocks are lining up nicely. Note the very front is not fitted with any. This is due to there being a raised section at the front. This will be fitted with battens to bring the floor height level.

The two floor boxes can be clearly seen here. These will contain the power points for the desks.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

All the full size pieces of the insulation blocks are now fitted. It is now that the gaps will be fitted with cut sections.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

This section will be painted green and will be covered in smart glass. This was shown on Grand Designs and gave us the idea to utilise it in the showroom. The glass is opaque as standard but when an electrical current is passed through it, the glass goes clear. This can be seen in later images.

Painting

Painting

The first of the green paints are applied. We decided to go for a forest green along the length of the wall. All the under floor heating blocks have been fitted at this point.

Waterfall Construction

Waterfall Construction

Remember the steel column in the previous image? Well after some deliberating we decided to cloak the structure in the same Wedi-board that we are going to make the desks with. Wedi-board as a product is normally used to construct wet rooms. This will eventually be a waterfall so ideal for this application.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

The last of the insulating blocks are being fitted around the electrical floor boxes.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

The new electrical automation system is started to be 2nd fixed.

Painting

Painting

Due to the various components being installed to the showroom we colour matched the new roller shutter that is going to be fitted to the showroom facade to the paint we required for the smart glass mentioned earlier.

Smart Glass

Smart Glass

The painted section of insulation blocks is now finished. Right in the center of the showroom for clients to view the working under floor heating.

Smart Glass

Smart Glass

The smart glass area was given a 2nd coat of paint to ensure a vivid finsih.

Painting

Painting

The forest green paint was given a second coat.

Waterfall

Waterfall

The construction of the water fall is coming along nicely. The top most section was tanked to act as a header for the water fall. Eventually the tank will act like a large rain shower head that will allow the water to cascade down.

Waterfall

Waterfall

An alternative view of the waterfall. The second of the green colours can clearly be seen behind. We decided to go for a light apple green.

Waterfall

Waterfall

The first section of tiling has now been fitted. We decided to go with a purple mosaic with each being fitted individually. As this was a design and build piece of work the decisions were made after each step. See the catchment tank under construction at the bottom.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

The under floor heating installed to the meeting room. Normally the insulation blocks would stop 150mm from the end to allow the pipework to return along the adjacent channel. Ever the perfectionists we meticulously chiseled the blocks for the bends to sit in.

Under Floor Heating Manifold

Under Floor Heating Manifold

We decided to install the under floor heating manifold to the meeting room wall. All the under floor heating pipework bends were carefully laid into the insulation blocks and grooves channeled accordingly.

Smart Glass

Smart Glass

Once all the pipework was laid, the floor was covered over to protect from damage whilst the bespoke desks were made. We had not made a decision on the floor covering at this stage and we did not want to damage the installed pipes or blocks.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

An alternative view of the completed under floor heating pipe work. The hand made desks can now be made. Templates were cut from ply. The arc shapes on the floor will be the desks final positions.

Waterfall

The tiling now completed on the waterfall. We decided to offset the beautiful purple tiles with blue ones fitted on the inside of the catchment tank. We have used this combination on swimming pools in the past.

Under Floor Heating

Under Floor Heating

We decided to mount the under floor heating manifold on chequer plate. As the manifolds are now chrome it made sense to follow the theme through to its mount.

The Showroom Facade

The Showroom Facade

For nearly a year whilst the construction was under way the front of the building was screened via shuttering. As we tried to recreate the frontage from an old black and white image we found from when it was a Co-Op many years before. This was the first light the new front had seen and the first time the general public had seen the front.

Facade Tiling

Facade Tiling

The previous image shows the lower front section clad in Wedi-board. This has been used in many applications in this project. we decided on the green tiles shown. These were the nearest match to the black and white photograph of the Co-Op years before.

Facade Tiling

The front section is now completed. Only the entrance to do now.

The custom electronic shutter was fitted.

Victorian Tiling

We decided to go for this pattern tiles. Once grouted it would be aged to look old rather than brand new.

Victorian Tiling

The tiling has nearly been completed. We came across all shapes and angles during this process.

Victorian Tiling

The tiling now completed looks fabulous. A shining example of the high standard of work that we can carry out.

Bespoke Desks

Bespoke Desks

The desks made from Wedi-board. Our tiler made these from scratch using the template to create the curve shown. We used the Wedi system to demonstrate the work that we can produce. Imagine the panels used to create a sweeping walk in shower reducing the need for a shower screen.
